There was a marked increase in committee activity during Week Nine (Days 30-32) as state lawmakers work to advance legislation before the gavel raps on March 29.
Lawmakers took a short break on Monday to celebrate the passage and signing of Georgia’s adoption reform bill. I am pleased to see that two years of hard work have resulted in a set of laws that will place more children in permanent, loving families.
Crafted and carried by Rep. Bert Reeves (R-9), HB 159 updates and Georgia’s adoption laws for the first time in almost three decades.
By reducing inefficiencies in the adoption process and increasing jurisdictions for state adoptions boards, HB 159 is a landmark piece of legislation that I am proud to support.
It was qualifying week at the State Capitol. As you know, I am not seeking re-election this year. I want to enjoy traveling with my husband and seeing my grandchildren much more than I do. It has truly been an honor and a privilege for me to serve the fine residents of District 105.
As always, please feel free to call (404-656-0254) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with any questions or concerns you may have.
Rep. Joyce Chandler
